Zo's Off the Hook Sports Grille

Alonzo Mourning is a man of many trades. He rebounds, he blocks shots, and he flexes his muscles with more passion than Adonis in front of a full-body mirror. But it's Zo's legacy off the court that makes him a Renaissance man. He has survived a kidney transplant, he has built a name synonymous with charity work, and — maybe least impressive, but impressive nonetheless — he has built the luxurious yet laid-back Zo's Off the Hook Sports Grille. Zo's is a restaurant/private lounge/sports bar that's big enough to accommodate everyone: from business-suit wearing, Bluetooth-in-the-ear types to, well, the rest of us. And from the talk around the bar, it'll be even bigger soon. There are plans for a nightclub, a pool hall, and a bar that'll stake its claim as Fort Lauderdale's biggest. The dining room is impeccable and smells like heaven (which smells a lot like steak, actually). Tonight, there's a buzz about the possibility of the man himself walking in. It's happened before. Several people told me so. But my visit was not so fortuitous. Enjoy live cover bands and DJs on Fridays and Saturdays. Take advantage of Zo's affinity for the number four and get $4 margaritas on Monday, $4 Jack Daniels on Thursday, $4 Svedkas on Friday, and $4 Bacardis on Sunday. On Saturday, Zo's pours $5 Kettle One martinis. Tuesday is boys night: $1.50 domestic drafts and $3 import drafts. Wednesday is (accompanied) ladies night, which means women who drag in their man get free drafts and wells (I guess Zo's a fan of "traditional" family values).
